The Shift From SEO to LLM Agents: Why AI Visibility Is a First-Mover Window

Players are leaving classic search for AI answers, and the brands named by AI now will own those answers tomorrow. FoeGlass measures AI visibility for iGaming so you can win the spot before competitors do.

The shift from SEO to LLM agents is the move of real search demand away from a page of blue links toward direct answers written by AI models. FoeGlass is an AI Visibility Index for iGaming: it measures how ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Grok and Google AI Overviews represent gambling brands in the answers they hand to players. The old game was ranking a page. The new game is being the brand the model names when a player asks where to play. That is a different contest, and it is already underway.

The data says search itself is changing

This is not a forecast, it is a measurable move. The numbers point one direction:

  • Google AI Overviews now appear in around 60% of US searches, up from roughly 25% in late 2025. The AI answer is becoming the default surface, not a side panel.
  • Zero-click is now the norm. When an AI answer shows, up to 83% of searches end with no click at all. In Google AI Mode that reaches up to 93%. The answer is the destination.
  • Younger players start with AI. About 35% of US Gen Z now search through AI chatbots, and that rises above 70% among Millennials.
  • Buyers trust it for decisions. 94% of B2B buyers already use AI in their decision process, and Gartner projects classic search volume to decline.

When four in five answers end without a click, the ranked page you optimized for years no longer decides who the player picks. The model does.

Why being named by AI is the whole game now

In a page of ten links, a player could scroll, compare and find you at position six. In an AI answer there is no position six. The model names a short list of brands and everyone else is invisible. If ChatGPT tells a player in New Jersey the three casinos worth using and your brand is not one of them, you did not lose a ranking, you lost the answer. The deposit goes to a competitor, and the player never knows you existed.

This is why AI visibility behaves differently from SEO. It is not gradual. It is present or absent. FoeGlass captures exactly that per brand: the role the model gives you (recommended, mentioned, or a warning), the tone, your position in the answer, and the sources the model cited to justify it.

The first-mover window is open, and it will close

Answers harden. Once a model consistently names a set of brands for a query, that pattern reinforces itself: those brands get cited, those citations feed the next answer, and the list gets stickier. The brands that earn the spot early become the default the model reaches for. Late arrivals have to unseat an incumbent the AI already trusts, which is far harder than being named first.

There is also a commercial reason to move now. Adobe's 2025 holiday data shows traffic arriving from AI converts about 31% higher than other channels. AI does not just send fewer clicks, it sends better-qualified players who already read a recommendation and arrived half-decided. Owning that answer is worth more per visitor, not less.

How FoeGlass measures the ground you are fighting for

FoeGlass does not guess. Data is collected manually by real people running live queries from the required geos and languages, phrased the way a real player phrases them. Personas are prepared accounts with genuine history per player type, beginner, regular and high roller, so the model answers as it would for a real user. Every result is marked up by two independent AI models, one extracting and one verifying, after the human. The index maps four dimensions: geo, language, query intent and player type, across jurisdictions rather than flat countries, because a model names different operators in licensed New Jersey than in the rest of the United States.

Each cell is honest about what it means. A brand that is measured but not named is an honest zero, not a blank, because the deposit is going somewhere else. A red verdict only stands with a witness, at least one tracked brand named confidently in the same answer, so you never mistake an empty market for a real loss. Scores are a weighted average of role, tone, position and source quality, from 0 to 100, with money intents weighing more than informational ones.

SEO was about yesterday, AI visibility is about tomorrow

The players are already asking the models. The only open question is whether the model names you or a competitor when it answers. SEO is about yesterday, AI visibility is about tomorrow. FoeGlass is how you see where you stand across every geo, language and persona, and a FoeGlass report is where that picture turns into a plan for owning the answer before the window closes.
